WHY DO WE NEED TO STOP THE MUNICIPAL VALLEY WATER DISTRICT FROM PROFITEERING?
1. 441/2 acre of a money making, a reservoir machine, at $300 - $450 per acre foot selling water to other cities. The
profit is more than our annual City's budget. San Bernardino can use the extra money for pot holes, street repair, and street
lighting. In California water is more valuable than gold. If this is the case why are we selling our precious resource earning
no profit?
2. San Bernardino should not be selling water sacrificing our own needs. 1. populations increase 2. demands for housing
3. waters is our natural heritage, a gift from nature.
3. The citizens of San Bernardino enjoy low water bills and eventually the citizens will lose that privilege.
4. A bait and switch project a promise of revitalization and a San Antonio river walk. San Antonio makes the river walk
opposed to the River walk making San Antonio. San Antonio's spurs cannot be compared to what San Bernardino has to offer.
San Antonio with a population of three million and lots of landmarks including the Alamo have a history rich in cultural since
1531. San Bernardino on the other hand is a champion in destroying cultural designations. , The unrealistic appraisal of a
San Antonio river walk in San Bernardino as a drawing card is irresponsible.
5. Municipal Valley Water District is purchasing 82.5 acres of our land in the project. The loss of our share in property
tax and loss of revenue from businesses is a permanent loss for the citizens of San Bernardino. All is permanently lost for
a reservoir based on a vision of a San Antonio river walk, a belief of a destination where thousands of people will flock.
The Municipal Valley Water District does not pay property tax revenue or any other tax because government does not tax
government. Ask the City and the Municipal Valley Water District for a financial statement. Where is the financial statement?
.
6.The 25 acres for the 72 isolated upscale homes is held by the Municipal Valley Water District until some time in the
future the City buys the land back for development. The City will most likely give the land away to demanding and greedy developers.
7. The financial burden is carried by the citizens of San Bernardino.
8. Environmental injustice: 2185 low income people, 47 thriving families owned operated businesses, six active churches,
and one significant cultural and historical resource. To erase an entire community is an act against humanity, a really serious
defect of character.
9. The churches targeted suffers a severe disadvantage because religious land use inherently serve the public good. The
City of San Bernardino and the Municipal Valley Water District affirms an open season on the taking because the land use for
the reservoir is profitable.
10. Why do we need a reservoir? We have been told a reservoir in the North Lake area is needed because of a high water
table. Nonsense. No evidence of that claim. The Final Environmental Impact report offered alternatives including a smaller
lake; however, all options were denied except the large lake.
11. Why destroy 174 potential historic properties that are resourceful? Pasadena, our sisters’ city, is blessed with
historical homes and landmarks. A coat of paint, landscaping, and tender loving care toward the people can transform and work
miracles opposed to a plan to massacre and destroy. Stop the myths of revitalization employing a wrecking ball and set the
bulldozer free.
